Welcome to
Country Club Ridge
Country Club Ridge is one of Levitt and Sons' first breaks into the "move-up" market since before Levittown, N.Y.  Although the Country Clubber model was offered in its own sections in Levittown, Pa., there was little emphasis on marketing those sections as their own communities separate and distinct from the other Levittown sections.  When Levitt came to New Jersey, a similar arrangement was made in 1959 with the introduction of the Country Clubber and Manor House models, which were to be offered exclusively in the Windsor Park section.  Though somewhat removed physically from the other Levittown, N.J. sections, Windsor Park was still marketed as another seciton of Levittown.

With the development of the Willingboro Country Club, Levitt sought to make Windsor Park into a unique neighborhood, first by renaming it, removing the "Park" designation, as all the Levittown and Willingboro sections were residential "parks," and then by providing amenities that none of the other Levittown or Willingboro secitons had.  The homes featured in Country Club Ridge were much larger and more varied from the homes offered in the Levittown and Willingboro sections.  Other amenities, such as corner landscaping, preservation of existing trees, and all-underground utilites (no overhead lines behind the homes) were also featured to distinguish Country Club Ridge as a separate, exclusive community in the established community of Willingboro.  In fact, advertisements for Country Club Ridge were completely separate from the Garfield Park and Rittenhouse Park advertisements, with Willingboro mentioned only as the locale.  In addition, Country Club Ridge had its own Exhibit Center right within the community, rather than being part of the Garfield Park Exhibit Center near Route U. S. 130.

Beginning in 1968, the line of Country Club Ridge homes was modified.  The Devon had been discontinued previously, and in 1968, the Hampshire was discontinued and the Regency added to the Country Club Ridge houseline.  By 1970, the C-section of Willingboro, known as Country Club Ridge, was completed.  However, sales and construction of Country Club Ridge homes were continued into the western part of Twin Hills.  The community was still advertised as Country Club Ridge and lot sizes and community enhancements, such as corner landscaping, were commensurate with the contiguous section of Country Club Ridge, even though the homesites were located in the Twin Hills section.  Concurrently, the Garfield Park at Twin Hills homesites were being developed in the eastern part of Twin Hills

LEVITTOWNBEYOND ADDS...
Country Club Ridge models were also offered in the adjoining section of Twin Hills west of Twin Hill Drive and along Rancocas Creek on the south side of Tiffany Lane.  Similar in character to Country Club Ridge, these areas of Twin Hills are also densely wooeded and on rolling terrain.  And in the same style, estate-sized lots were available with special plantings and underground utilities.

The Willingboro Country Club was developed by Levitt and Sons, Inc. in 1966 as a semi-private facility situated on the north shore of Rancocas Creek.  In 1990, the Club was taken over by National Golf Properties and managed as a public club by its subsidiary, American Golf Corp.  The course was renamed Rancocas Golf Club.  (Source: www.Philly.com)
